Temporary dentition or baby teeth
Temporary teeth or baby teeth are the first teeth to appear on the baby’s dental arch. These teeth are structurally similar to permanent teeth, ie have a crown and a root (which houses the root nerve) but are smaller than the next generation of teeth.
Due to the presence of the nerve, these teeth are sensitive to physical stimuli (cold, warm) and chemical (sweet, sour-acid). Temporary tooth decay occurs due to improper nutrition, lack of hygiene or both associated causes.
